Summary: This extension collects zero personal data. Everything is stored locally in your browser. No data is ever sent to any external server owned by us.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.

The extension stores the following data locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local:

Stock symbols and company names you choose to track (watchlist)
Stock symbols extracted from your Zerodha Kite holdings page (only when you explicitly click "Sync Holdings")
Cached news article headlines fetched from public RSS feeds
Your extension preferences (refresh interval, notification settings, region)
Read/bookmarked article states

None of this data ever leaves your browser. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no remote database, and no server-side component.

2. How We Use Information

The locally stored data is used solely to:

Display financial news relevant to your tracked stocks
Show unread article badges and desktop notifications
Remember your preferences between browser sessions

3. Third-Party Services

The extension fetches publicly available news content from:

Google News RSS (news.google.com) — public RSS feeds based on stock ticker search queries
Yahoo Finance (finance.yahoo.com) — public financial news feeds

These requests are standard HTTP fetches to public URLs. No authentication tokens, cookies, or personal identifiers are sent with these requests.

4. Zerodha Kite Access

The extension never accesses Zerodha Kite automatically. It only reads your holdings page when you explicitly click the "Sync Holdings" button.

The extension never touches login pages, passwords, TOTP/2FA, order book, funds, or margins.
It reads only visible stock symbols and quantities from the holdings table DOM.
The content script includes a safety guard that immediately terminates on any authentication or login page.
No data from Kite is transmitted anywhere — extracted symbols are stored locally in chrome.storage.local.

5. Permissions Explained

Permission	Why It's Needed
`storage`	Store tracked stocks, settings, and cached news locally in the browser
`alarms`	Schedule periodic background checks for new articles at your chosen interval
`notifications`	Show desktop alerts when new financial news arrives for your tracked stocks
`tabs`	Detect whether a Zerodha Kite tab is open so the "Sync Holdings" button can be enabled
`scripting`	Inject the holdings reader script into the Kite tab only when you click "Sync Holdings"
`kite.zerodha.com`	Read stock symbols from your holdings page (user-initiated only, never automatic)
`news.google.com`	Fetch public RSS news feeds for your tracked stock tickers
`finance.yahoo.com`	Fetch public financial news articles

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or transfer any data to any third party. Since all data resides locally in your browser, there is nothing to share.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

All data is stored locally and persists only as long as the extension is installed.
You can clear all data at any time using Settings → Reset Everything in the Options page.
Uninstalling the extension automatically deletes all stored data.

8. Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
